Tom Winnifrith Podcast: The villains are not The Sun and Social Media and the victim is not Huw Edwards or the BBC

The great and the good of the media world are gathering to attack The Sun, social media and anyone who questions their narrative as irresponsible, homophobic or discreadited. Meanwhile they say that poor old Huw not the 7 young folks now to have come forward are the victims. In an era of #MeToo how can Jon Sopel, Emily Maitlis et al be so offensive? All is discussed in this podcast.

Dawn Butler MP - does Labour really not want a free press?

Eco terrorists from Extinction Rebellion last night blockaded roads leading to the presses where The Times, The Sun and The Daily Telegraph are printed. So many folks cannot, today, waste their cash on buying those papers. I am no fan of the deadwood press but I do believe in a free press. However, it seems that at least one MP does not and is celebrating this action. Is this not rather disturbing? I imagine that Dawn Butler would not be cheering if The Mirror & The Guardian had been prevented from distributing their rags.

Tom Winnifrith discusses Patisserie Holdings fraud with Kelvin McKenzie on LoveSport Radio

Kelvin McKenzie is a major hero of mine. His Sun front page Gotcha! with a picture of the Belgrano sinking was his finest moment on Fleet Street so it was a pleasure to be a guest on his radio show today. My section is about 20 minutes in

Love Island more popular than Oxbridge - Rod Liddle is a genius

You may not be aware of "Love island" but it is trash reality TV and oh, well just use your imagination. It is more about sex than love but "sex island" is not such a catchy name. You may also not be a Sun Reader. Nor am I normally but just now and then Rod Liddle tempts me in. In case you are not a Sun Reader I offer you a few words from his latest column which is the work of a genius.

No Hannah Winterbourne you have not always been a woman you used to have a penis

The Sun Newspaper stands accused of transphobia for running a story about a man who used to be a woman marrying a woman who used to be a man. Hannah Winterbourne, a soldier, who is the bride says the story is untrue because she has always been a woman and her husband always been a man. I guess this is a timely refresher on the Orwellian world of 1984. You see I use Oldspeak..

The fascism of the Corbynistas - newspaper burning on election day, what next book burning?

In the 1930s Nazi Germany organised the burning of books that the State considered degenerate. The state, or rather the party, got to decide what everyone else should read. Back then the British left stood for free speech. How that has changed.

Fascist free speech denying student shitheads at City University - the intolerance of the campus

Life on Britain's campuses is meant to be all about protecting freedoms and as the proud home to one of the UK's finest journalism courses you would have thought that City University in London would stand full square behind a free press.

Good News - my father's membership of the Conservative Club approved

Gosh, the Conservative Club in Brislington is efficient. It was only on Wednesday that my father and I trouped in to complete his application. On Thursday another visit as Dad thinks the Cider is cheap and enjoys a place where the only newspaper is the Sun and with cricket on the TV.

By Saturday an email arrives

Jeepers, as a #Tory4Corbyn I am now really confused -Jezza might actually be the best Labour has, so the worst choice for leader

I was pretty much convinced that I was right to back Comrade Corbyn as the man to lead Labour to complete electoral disaster although I was flirting with sour faced warmonger Angela Eagle. News that my lefty sister N and her half German husband were now backing Angela Eagle as the best ABC (Anyone But Corbyn) candidate only made me more certain that I should, as a loyal party member since last summer, stand firm with Jezza. But today's Sun has a shocking poll.

Page Three Ce n’est pas mort – #JeSuispage3

Like Lazarus, rising from the dead, Page 3 birds have returned to The Sun. Good. A small minority of the liberal elite who never read the paper anyway attempted to dictate a change of editorial policy. They have failed.

The liberal elite do not like Page three birds. They would not like their daughters showing their tits. But then their daughters go to nice private schools in North London, a good university and have nice respectable careers. A check-out position at Tesco is not their career choice.

The liberal elite are happy to deny the poor the opportunity for financial freedom because the poor are the client state of the liberal left. And while they mouth platitudes about freedom of speech or expression that is only until something is said which they find distasteful.

I find The Guardian objectionable and distasteful. So I do not buy it. But I have no right to stop it publishing opinions on a daily basis which I find loathsome.  But then I do not pretend to be part of the liberal left: I actually DO believe in freedom and in allowing those less privileged than I the chance of a better life.

Vive Le Sun. Vive les Page Three Birds.  I shall continue not to buy it as it is generally an intolerant rag full of rubbish but I am delighted that it will continue to stay that way.

Je Suis Page 3

The Mrs finds page three women offensive and is today celebrating the fact that The Sun has dropped this feature.  Most of its readers wanted it to stay and most of the population did not care but a small group of the liberal elite campaigned hard, applying commercial pressures on News Corp and Page three est mort.  There you go, the liberal left find something offensive and they may be a minority but it must be banned.  Hmmm a cup of Charlie Hebdo anybody?

Page three has allowed a good few Essex girls to get a career outside of Tesco’s and earn decent wonga. It was their choice to get their kit off and they grabbed it. I guess it is back to Tesco’s for the next generation of Melinda’s and Sam’s.

The liberal left do not care about giving opportunity to the poor, to their client state. They care

Brooks Newmark MP – try to be logical please

Brooks Newmark Is a Tory MP and even more embarrassingly a supporter of Newcastle United. And he is terribly excited that the Sun Newspaper is backing his “big idea” to cut employers NI contributions when a firm takes on someone under 25. Oh please. Brooks try to think this through logically. I know you are an MP but can you try?

You appear to accept that employers NI is a tax on jobs. That is a really good start.  Albeit, not facing much competition, that marks you out as one of our smarter MPs.

But if you accept that principle

Avanti Communications, College Group, pornography, sheep shagging and Cheryl Cole – ref Kay Larsen

I do not actually have anything new to say about Avanti Communications (AVN) other than CEO David Williams must be very pleased about the rugby. However this is another client of bizarre PR bird Kay Larsen and so I just wanted to ensure that when she does a Google search on it and her the words pornography & sheep shagging (something that never happens in Williams’ homeland) and a picture of an attractive young lady come up.

Kay, this will now be the way for all your clients following your  after lunch outburst yesterday on what you deemed pornography and sheep shagging and how YOU get to determine where your clients are covered and how

Today’s model is from the Sun. A publication College Group deals with every day.

Louise Mensch – Hypocrite But Always Entertaining

You may remember the pain that I felt when Louise Mensch announced that she was to leave Parliament – indeed I pleaded with her to reconsider (HERE) but he author of some of the UK’s worst ever fiction could not be dissuaded. The joy of Mensch was that she is truly stupid and thus allowed me to write easy articles full of cheap jokes. Boy do I miss her.

Indeed I remember only too well her last big appearance, grilling Rupert Murdoch
